Updating the Studio Organizer

Important Updating Information

When it comes to updating, the Studio Organizer is quite different than other software products. Please read these instructions carefully for a trouble free updating experience.

If you have any questions about updating feel free to email technical support. Please be sure to use the Support button and provide detailed information when submitting your question.

  1. The free 30 day trial and the full working version are one and the same.
    Entering your Registration Code disables the 30 day trial limitations.

  2. Your Registration Code automatically transfers with your data when you follow the instructions below. Re-registering the software is not required.

  3. A current Registration Code is required is required to use the most current version of the Studio Organizer. Please click the Purchase button on the License folder tab on the School Info screen to purchase a new Registration Code.

  4. If you've purchased the Studio Organizer at the annual rate, renewing your Registration Code is required each year if you wish to continue to use the Studio Organizer. Since there are no contracts annual renewals are not processed automatically. Please click the Purchase button on the License folder tab on the School Info screen to purchase a new Registration Code.

  5. If you've upgraded from Martial Arts Organizer 4 or purchased the Studio Organizer with one payment purchasing annual updates is optional. You may continue to use an outdated version of the Studio Organizer without updating.

  6. Installing previous updates is not required. Each update contains all the improvements and bug fixes added to previous updates.

  7. Completing the updating procedure (described below) automatically transfers your Student Photos folder, all of your data, and your Registration Code. Nothing is lost.

  8. After updating, the old version of the Studio Organizer remains on your computer. You can delete the old version, or compress it, or back it up to an external source for safe keeping. Please be sure to delete any shortcut or aliases you may have created that will open the old version.

  9. Text on the Student ID cards revert to the standard font, style and size.

  10. A File Locked error message will be displayed if you open the old version accidentally. If you wish, you can open and use the old version. Just click the Unlock button. But don't continue to use the old version. Compress it, or back it up and delete it from your computer.

  11. Also be sure you have only one working version of the Studio Organizer installed on your computer. See Only One Copy of the Studio Organizer in the built in Help or School Setup tutorial for details.

  12. If you are networking the Studio Organizer, updating should be performed on the server, with all guest disconnected.

 

 


 

How to Start Updating

Open the version of the Studio Organizer you are currently using with the Master account name and password.

From the Main Menu, go to the Wizards menu at the top of the screen, and select Updating the Studio Organizer.

Click the Start Wizard button.

Follow the on screen prompts.


 

How to Finish Updating

Click an icon to Download Version 5v16



Click the appropriate icon above to begin downloading the Studio Organizer 5v16.

After the download completes, install the Studio Organizer 5v16.

Windows Users: The software automatically installs to your computers Desktop.
Macintosh Users: The software will install to your Downloads or Desktop folder.

After the software has been successfully installed, open the Studio Organizer 5v16 with the Master account name and password.

Since your Registration Code is automatically transferred when you update, click Register Later when prompted.

From the Main Menu, go to the Wizards menu at the top of the screen, and select Updating the Studio Organizer.

Click the Finish Wizard button.

If you receive a message stating:
"The file '_5vXX' could not be opened. (Not Found)"
click OK, then Cancel in the Open dialog box that follows.
(XX is the previous version # of the Studio Organizer you were using.)

The Updating Wizard does all the work and will let you know when your data has been successfully transferred.

All of your data and photos will transfer. Nothing is lost.



 

Cleaning Up

After you have successfully updated please delete any shortcuts or aliases you may have created which will open the old Studio Organizer files.


Compress the old Studio Organizer folder so it will not be opened accidentally.
Or you can back up the old Studio Organizer folder to an external source and remove it from your computer.
